Gilbert and Sullivan gave way to genuine light opera, The Maid of the Mountains, Student Prince and Desert Song, onto Rodgers and Hammerstein and Cole Porter musicals, before moving into the 21st millennium with Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, Evita, Sister Act, and now the outrageous humour of The Addams Family.
