Spate of cat attacks Call for major investigation after pet beheaded
Bristol Post
|July 30, 2025
CALLS are mounting for a major investigation into reports of cats being attacked and mutilated in a Bristol neighbourhood.
One cat was found beheaded and another had its tongue cut out, according to a local city councillor.
The gruesome reports have prompted a call for urgent action by the RSPCA, police and the city council.
Cllr Abdul Malik called the reports 'ongoing and disturbing incidents of animal cruelty,' but said people who attempted to report the incidents to the authorities had been passed between different agencies. Now, the Ashley ward councillor has called for a 'coordinated, multi-agency investigation.
Some cat owners in the area have reportedly begun keeping their pets indoors for fear of them becoming the next victim in an area of St Pauls and Stokes Croft near the city centre. One account claimed a man had been trying to entice cats using large piles of cat food in St Pauls, while Cllr Malik said the number of missing cat posters in the area and online had 'significantly increased'.
