Robins’ dreams of Premier League football over for another season

BRISTOL City’s Premier League dream came to a disappointing end as they were beaten 3-0 by Sheffield United in the second leg of their play-off semi-final at Bramall Lane, losing 6-0 to the Blades over the course of the two legs.
The Robins came into last night's clash as underdogs, having suffered a 3-0 defeat in the first leg at Ashton Gate on Thursday evening, but goals from Kieffer Moore, Gustavo Hamer and Callum O’Hare ensured their first play-off campaign in 17 years ended on a frustrating note.
Moore nodded the home side into the lead moments before half-time, before Hamer and O'Hare put the result on the night beyond doubt after the break. Though City had chances of their own, they were unable to take advantage of an impressive start.
Despite the disappointing result, Liam Manning and his squad were greeted like heroes as they made their way over to the travelling fans after the full-time whistle, with all of a Robins’ persuasion recognising just what they have achieved this term.
Manning made four changes to the side that was beaten in the first leg at Ashton Gate. Cam Pring replaced the suspended Rob Dickie, George Earthy came in for the injured Joe Williams while Haydon Roberts and Scott Twine started in place of Anis Mehmeti and Yu Hirakawa.
