'Patronising' Tories tell council to focus on potholes not flags

TORIES on South Gloucestershire Council have lashed the Labour and Liberal Democrat council leadership for being more focused on flags than issues which affect residents.

On Thursday, council co-leaders Maggie Tyrell and Ian Boulton issued a statement saying unauthorised St George and Union flags would be removed.

But the leader of the group of 23 Tory local members of the 61-person strong council said the ruling coalition had patronised residents, and accused the council of failing to deliver essential services.

Councillor Sam Bromiley, pictured above, said: “The Labour/Lib Dem coalition should spend more time focusing on the things that matter to residents instead of patronising local people with unsolicited advice about flag waving.”
