YOUR report: ‘Bus gate raises £2.5m in fines’ (April 28) informed us that Bristol City Council (BCC) has fleeced drivers of £2.5m in fines since it installed the money-making trap bus gate on Cumberland Road.

In attempts to mitigate this high-way robbery BCC's transport overlord Cllr Ed Plowden said: “It is the responsibility of all drivers to plan their journey appropriately and avoid bus gates.”
Not a very astute comment, for if all drivers were to follow his advice the council would be devoid of the huge income they provide!
