NHS care a true bargain

WHEN it comes to value for money, we all like a bargain, don’t we?

Whether it’s the January sales, shopping around for car insurance or bagging a good price on a week away in the sun, we Brits love a deal.

And we love to tell other people about it, too.

“Nice coat,’ said my mate, admiring my smart new petrol blue purchase.

“Marks and Spencer's sale!” I cried. “It was half price!”

You see? I could have told her it was a designer affair and cost me a fortune but I just couldn’t bring myself to do it.

And yet the best value for money I've had in ages is something which has never occurred to me to shout about before; my NHS treatment.

Over the course of the last few weeks my family and I have been frequent fliers when it comes to taking full advantage of our health service. We have, it’s fair to say, more than had our money's worth.
