'My father's death left a massive hole'

NEARLY 40 years after his father Bill died from a heart attack, aged just 59, football manager Ian Holloway is still haunted by a profound sense of loss.

"I was only 25 when he died, and to this day I feel totally and utterly robbed," says the Swindon Town manager and former Bristol Rovers and QPR midfielder.

"He never lived to see me play in the Premiership, manage a Premier League club, or meet any of my children or grandchildren. Because of that, I feel there's a massive hole in my life."

Bill's sudden heart attack had caused a cardiac arrest, when blood suddenly stops being pumped around the body. When he passed away, he'd been waiting for a triple heart bypass.

Tragically, more than 30,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests happen each year in the UK, and the survival rate is less than one in 10.
