A BRISTOL restaurant has thanked the community for its support after a “devastating” fire, thought to have been started by a customer attempting to dodge their bill.
Bombil restaurant in East Street, Bedminster
Bombil, which opened inside a former bank on East Street in Bedminster in September 2024, was forced to evacuate on Saturday during one of the busiest trading periods of the year.
The blaze reportedly originated in the toilets of the premises after an individual set light to toilet paper in a bid to avoid payment, the restaurant said.
Avon Fire and Rescue Service has not yet formally confirmed the cause, but an investigation is currently under way alongside Avon and Somerset Police.
