My uncle, William Nethercott, was also there and they could well have known each other.

I remember him coming home about 1948 with his arm in a sling and still in his bloodstained uniform.

He and another man were taking some dead bodies to be buried when a sniper opened fire on their vehicle. The other man was killed and I think it was the same bullet that entered my uncle's arm at the wrist and came out at his elbow.
