'Huge plans for 2026' Call for firms to back Birdman

A CALL has gone out to businesses across Bristol to get involved in the Bristol Birdman competition, which is set to take place in the harbourside later this year for the second time.

The madcap event, which is organised by and for one of South Bristol’s leading youth work organisations, will see teams create elaborate flying machines and launch them with a pilot on board to try to soar across the city docks from a launch ramp at Baltic Wharf.
The inaugural contest attracted as many as 10,000 spectators last year, and this year organiser Ben Carpenter, the boss at South Bristol youth work organisation Grassroot Communities, has made a call for sponsors and businesses to get involved.
