Housing Six new homes to be built on site of former garages
Bristol Post
|October 17, 2025
A COMMUNITY project to build smaller wooden homes for local people in large back gardens and little empty plots of land in South Bristol has been given planning permission for its biggest development to date.
The Knowle West-based WeCanMake organisation took just 95 days to submit plans and get them approved by council planners to create six new homes for local people on an empty bit of land in Hengrove.
The ‘Rodford Dreams’ project was backed by the local community living on Rodford Way, who wanted something to be done with the space where a block of garages used to be, and got together with WeCanMake to come up with ideas.
The rectangle of land between numbers 32 and 34 Rodfords Mead in Hengrove had garages for the people living nearby, but they were demolished by the council back in the mid 2000s.
