Football Clarke expects a very busy summer after 'manic' Rovers return

DARRELL Clarke has explained what the coming weeks hold for him following his “manic” return to Bristol Rovers, insisting “endless” work is going on behind the scenes to ensure Rovers have a squad capable of winning promotion out of League Two next season.

Clarke, who led Rovers to back-to-back promotions during his four and a half years in charge at the Mem between 2014 and 2018, officially started his second spell in charge of the Gas on Monday, having been named as Inigo Calderon’s successor less than 72 hours after it was confirmed the former Brighton youth coach had left the club.

While he may not have officially got up and running until Monday, the 47-year-old had been in the building, met staff and conducted a variety of interviews ahead of what is expected to be a busy summer in north Bristol. Although the new Rovers head coach has barely had a moment to stop and think, he is relishing the opportunity to get to work with director of football Ricky Martin.
