Education Funds for SEND school approved

FUNDING has been approved to build a new specialist free school in Bristol providing 164 places for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.

Trym Valley Academy will form part of the government's £3 billion reform package announced by the Department for Education to address growing demand for additional support.

Christine Townsend, pictured inset, chair of the Children and Young People committee, said: "Securing DfE funding for Trym Valley Academy is a huge step forward for Bristol.

"It will transform the lives of many children and families, ensuring those with the most complex needs have access to excellent education and support within their own community."
