'Complex' MP still on bail 7 months after his arrest

MP Dan Norris remains on bail seven months on from his arrest.

Mr Norris, who was West of England mayor until May, was arrested in April on suspicion of sexual offences against a girl, rape, child abduction, and misconduct in a public office.

As of today, the North East Somerset and Hanham MP remains on police bail and has not been charged.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "Investigations into alleged sexual offences are sensitive and complex and as a result it can take a significant amount of time for enquiries to be completed. We have an ongoing and active investigation being led by officers with Operation Bluestone, our dedicated rape and serious sexual assault investigation team, and their enquiries are progressing. We're keeping the victim updated on any developments and we'll continue to give her access to any support she may need. A man in his 60s remains on police bail."
