Cheerful pub grub that's not breaking boundaries, or the bank

It was a rare occasion where my son and I had the day to ourselves so we went to the cinema to watch the Minecraft movie at the Vue in Bristol before we headed off to Yate shopping centre.

It was a lovely sunny day when we drove past The Fox pub and restaurant and my son asked if we could go there after shopping as he would like to try somewhere new.

I was not up for cooking when we got home so we headed to The Fox around 3pm, and both of us were ready for some grub.

There is plenty of parking at The Fox, and it was quieter in the lull between lunch and dinner service.

On arrival you wait at the door for someone to come and seat you and you are asked if anyone has any food allergies.

My son has learning disabilities, autism and he's generally a lot younger in his ways for a 20-year-old lad - he can struggle with loud noises and shrieking and gets overwhelmed.

This has never stopped me taking him anywhere, but I have to manage things to stop him getting stressed and often ask to be seated somewhere quieter when going out to eat.
