Cheap thrills Finding treasure - and tat - in mystery parcels

HERE are several social media pages I love to return to in which the poster often has a skip filled with post that never made it to its destination. Every video sees them pick one at random and open it to see what weird and wonderful items are inside - and it can be addictive.

So, when visiting the Christmas Market in Broadmead this year, I couldn’t resist having a go when I stumbled upon the Mystery Parcels stall. Tables filled with boxes of ‘forgotten post} which the friendly stall holder described as being filled with end of line products - I don’t know if it’s the journalist in me that needed to instantly know what each package contained, but I knew I had to find out at least a handful.

Priced at three for £10, or £4 each, it certainly is one of the cheapest stalls at the Christmas Market this year (considering hot drinks alone will set you back five or six quid). But was it good value for money? That was the question I needed to answer.
