Developer wins appeal for 344 homes after decision by inspector

A DEVELOPER has secured planning permission for 344 new homes in Shenfield after an appeal.

The decision from the planning inspector comes after Croudace Homes decided to continue with an appeal against a rejection of its plan to build the homes in Shenfield, even though Brentwood Borough Council agreed a revised plan without debating it at the planning committee.

Councillors had been warned not to reject developer Croudace's plan for the new homes in Alexander Lane about six months ago, with planning officers advising Brentwood Borough Council's planning committee that an appeal would likely be successful and leave the council liable to costs of £500,000
