Lots of species to be landed as trio battle it out in flat and round match

September offered some fantastic sport for anglers fishing off the Fylde coast, writes BEN CALLIGHAN.

With last month being the one that crosses over from summer to winter fish, we have seen a wide variety of species being caught alongside some fantastic bass fishing.

Fleetwood and District Angling Club's latest match was at the Miners home.

It was a flat and round match where those taking part needed both types of fish to get in the prizes.

Conditions did not look encouraging with a flat sea and mostly sunny skies.

Twenty anglers were in action but most only had the odd fish.

Simon Dawber started off well and soon had a small plaice in addition to a whiting - but could not add to it.

Dave Hutchinson had a dogfish first cast, followed by a bass shortly afterwards, but could not catch a flat fish.
