Vision for Station St revealed in bid to save it
Birmingham Post
|May 01, 2025
A BIRMINGHAM architectural firm has shared images of what Birmingham's Station Street could look like if stakeholders were to invest in its future.
Station Street, behind New Street Station in the city centre, is currently marred by closures with the historic Electric Cinema and grade II-listed The Crown pub sitting empty.
Digbeth-based Intervention Architecture was commissioned by the National Trust to illustrate what the road could look like, showing a tree-lined road with community areas and outdoor space for creative expression as well as a cafe, gallery and more.
The images form part of a larger piece of work, which was undertaken in the hope it would 'start conversations with stakeholders' regarding the protection and regeneration of the road.
National Trust senior project manager Tom Grosvenor said that the work shows the importance of Station Street to Birmingham.
He said: "One of the National Trust's key aims in its work in and around towns and cities is to address unequal access to nature, beauty and history.
"To achieve this, we are increasingly working beyond our places and seeking to develop new and effective partnerships.
