Secrets to our business odyssey have kept us shipshape
Birmingham Post
|May 29, 2025
IN a series of Post articles, | have reflected on Hawkins Hatton’s (HH) 20-year journey and upon comparisons from the King of Ithaca's trials and tribulations in Homer's Odyssey.
HH’s journey started with the creation of its brand and culture, followed by the establishment of an operating and reporting structure, moving to compliance and risk, and most importantly, maximisation of profits.
As with any journey, you reach a final destination and in the same way that Homer's Odyssey, when published, created opportunities in terms of distribution of that story, I wanted in my final chapter, to focus on opportunities and how HH exploited these for growth.
Without seeming to state the obvious, if there is no work, there are no fees, and if there are no fees, there is no business.
