Work kicks off for new-look stadium

WORK to replace two 1950s Edgbaston Stadium stands and build a new hotel has begun.

The Raglan and Priory Stands will go as part of a £46m project which will also see a new four-star Radisson Red hotel built.

The stands, which are approaching the end of their lifespan, originally opened in 1958.

Construction will start early next year and completion is scheduled in time for the Men’s Ashes in summer 2027.

The Edgbaston Masterplan has already delivered significant improvements to the stadium, including the creation of one of the most modern pavilions in international cricket, the award-winning Corkfield apartment complex and a Skyline rooftop terrace.

The Raglan and Priory Stands will be redeveloped into a new stand with 3,200 seats.
