Old station to be repaired as work on HS2 surrounds it

REPAIRS could soon be carried out on the old Curzon Street Station building as works on the new HS2 city centre terminus continue.

Construction work on the new Curzon Street Station began in January 2024 but as it takes shape in the city centre, it is still unclear what future use will be made of the old station.

Opened in 1838, Curzon Street was the first direct railway line linking Birmingham to London.

Plans were recently lodged for work on the old station, including remedial repairs to the walls, windows and doors, and a new lightning conductor.
