Northfield pure Perfection with 25 wins

NORTHFIELD made it 25 consecutive wins in the Kings Norton League when they won their home fixture with Perfection 5-2, the win taking Northfield’s points tally to 50 with one more game to play, the title already assured as they have an eight-point lead on second-placed Copper Fox who although they have a game in hand will not be able to catch the champions as they only have two more games to play.
However, their 4-3 home win over Longbridge has guaranteed them the runners-up spot as they, in turn have an eight-point lead on third and fourth placed Bournbrook and Greenlands. There was no result for Bournbrook but Greenlands won 4-3 at home against Bournville. Without a win in 23 games and only three more games to play, Kings Norton Ex Serviceman’s Club look all set to take the wooden spoon.
The top two teams in group one of the Sheldon and District Summer League squared up to each other in week four, leaders Langley Arrows travelling to second-placed Raven Arrows.
The result was an emphatic 7-1 win for Raven Arrows to not only keep intact their unbeaten run but also see them replace their opponents at the top of the table with seven points with a single point lead on Langley Arrows who drop to second, Neil Parsonage and Jake Liggins both hitting a maximum for the winners. A 4-4 draw at Trident Spears was enough for Highwood to hold on to third with five points, their hosts fourth with four points, Highwood’s Dave Cherry, Chris Darby and Steve Harding all finding the three treble 20s.
A 6-2 home win over EBAHA plus a 180 from Adam Cooksey helped Banbury Club hold on to the top spot in group two, but a 5-3 home win for RAFA against Smithswood Social Club puts them on the same seven points as Banbury and they only trail by three legs of average.
Third placed Kingshurst Labour Club have just one point fewer than the two teams above them after they added a 6-2 win at Hunters Moon to their account.
