New bus priority routes planned to cut travel times

TRANSPORT for West Midlands is set to introduce new measures on key routes in Birmingham and the Black Country, aiming to cut journey times for bus passengers.

A new contractor has been appointed by TfWM to kick-start work on three new bus priority routes as part of the Cross-City bus programme.

These routes, delivered in collaboration with local councils, will see a host of measures implemented on key routes allowing buses to bypass traffic congestion.

The measures include new bus lanes, upgrades to junctions, traffic signals, parking and bus stops, all aimed at providing more reliable, regular and predictable journey times - saving thousands of passengers valuable time on their commute.
