Memories of Brum's old BULL RING

BORN in the Second World War, Eamon Keeley is lucky to have lived through it.

Birmingham was heavily bombed by the Luftwaffe, and his Mom told him that one day she "took us shopping in Lozells and I was in a pram when the German fighters screamed down and strafed the street with machine gun fire. Luckily, my Mother dived into an entry and saved our lives".

Although living in Crompton Road, Handsworth, close to the Birchfield Road, Eamonn has vivid and evocative memories of the Old Bull Ring.

Not the 1960s Bull Ring before the present one, but the one before that.
