Man guilty of deliberate HIV infection of victim

A WORCESTERSHIRE man has been convicted of recklessly infecting another person with HIV as his victim spoke out for the first time.

Luke Davis, 31, of George Street, Kidderminster, was found guilty of unlawfully and maliciously inflicting grievous bodily harm at his Hereford Crown Court yesterday.

He is due to be sentenced for the crime - a first of its kind for West Mercia Police - in January next year.

Davis' victim discovered they were HIV positive in a routine screening in 2021. He told police Davis had recklessly exposed him - and others - to the virus.

In a statement released by the force, the victim bravely opened up about the "life sentence" he is having to serve every day because of the reckless behaviour.

"Luke has never had to face the consequences of his actions, nor has he ever taken responsibility for what he has done," he said.
