Leisure centre campaigners vote to keep council control

CAMPAIGNERS are celebrating after winning a vote at Dudley Council on the future of borough leisure centres.

The ruling Conservative group had invited bids to outsource centres in Stourbridge, Dudley and Halesowen, but councillors voted to recommend keeping centres in council control.
Trade unionists and Labour and Liberal Democrat councillors gathered at the council house to demand an end to the outsourcing plan.
