THE best place to live in Birmingham is the Jewellery Quarter, according to a 'des res' guide.

The number one slot for 2026 was awarded to the historic area by lifestyle magazine Muddy Stilettos, based on places to eat and socialise, schools, property prices, community and things to do.
In the past, the annual guide has had leafy suburbs such as Bournville and Kings Heath in the top spots.
The guide states: “No longer just a place to buy your engagement ring, this historic neighbourhood is now one of the country’s most desirable places to live.
