Jacob fee agreed as Newcastle set to get their man
Birmingham Mail
|August 15, 2025
JACOB Ramsey's proposed move from Aston Villa to Newcastle United is nearly complete, with a fee agreed between the clubs - believed to be around £43m.
Ramsey was undergoing a medical at St James’ Park last night and if personal terms are agreed, the 24-year-old could be a Magpie by the time they visit Villa Park for tomorrow lunchtime’s Premier League opener.
The prospective sale of Ramsey, who has made 167 appearances at Villa Park, will represent pure profit for Villa, who are walking a UEFA financial fair play and PSR tightrope and need to sell.
It has been a quiet summer for Villa in the transfer market with only two first-team signings so far: Marco Bizot and Evann Guessand.
They are reportedly keen on resigning Paris St Germain midfielder Marco Asensio, who spent the second half of last season on loan.
However, the club have managed to retain key players such as Ollie Watkins, Morgan Rogers and Boubacar Kamara. As a result, their financial flexibility in the market has been limited.
