Hollywood script gets a rewrite – and Albion steal show

ALBION have hit the ground running in the Championship under new manager Ryan Mason.

The Baggies beat Blackburn in their league opener and this was a first away win since beating Hull last November - 16 games ago.

Wrexham co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney saw the visitors spoil their Championship return on home soil with a 3-2 win at the SToK Cae Ras.

The Hollywood stars were among the capacity 10,656 crowd as Wrexham played at home in the second tier of English football for the first time since beating Rotherham 3-2 on May 15, 1982.

But goals from man-of-the-match Isaac Price, who added a double to his opening-day winner against Blackburn, and substitute Jed Wallace condemned the Red Dragons to a second successive league defeat after their opening loss at Southampton.

Lewis O’Brien provided hope with an equaliser three minutes before halftime, but there was no Hollywood ending in front of their celebrity owners, despite Sam Smith's stoppage-time strike.

"Early results are important because we are seven weeks in on this new journey we are going on together," said Mason.

"When you win games it accelerates the belief, and that’s our challenge to get everyone on board and keep progressing.

"I don’t feel it from my side because I trust and believe in the people I’ve got working with me are going to deliver.

"It’s more the players. To win the first couple of league games is super-positive for us. I'm really happy. I thought we deserved it. It was a really good performance away from home.
