Davies gives 'deluded' fans REALITY check!

Demarai Gray salvaged a 2-2 draw with this 99th-minute equaliser against Sheffield Wednesday at St Andrew's

- By ALEX DICKEN

CHRIS Davies insists anyone who thought Blues would waltz their way to promotion this season is 'deluded' in a dose of expectation management.

Blues’ owners Knighthead have made no secret of their ambition to win promotion to the Premier League this season after an expensively assembled squad blitzed League One in record-breaking style.

Davies was backed with 12 new signings in a summer overhaul that saw Blues attract the likes of Tommy Doyle, Demarai Gray, Kyogo Furuhashi and Marvin Ducksch.

But they have been found wanting in their first eight games at Championship level and needed a 99th-minute strike from Gray to prevent a fourth league defeat in five to beleaguered Sheffield Wednesday at St Andrew’s on Tuesday.

Still, Blues are 11th in the early standings and the picture is changing all the time. By the end of it, Davies is convinced they will be ‘sitting in a position we're very happy with'.
