Chris back on familiar ground in Shay return
Birmingham Mail
|November 22, 2025
CHRIS Millington doesn’t know what sort of reception he will get from FC Halifax Town fans today when he returns to the club he steered to back-to-back playoff places.
But good, bad or indifferent, the Solihull Moors boss is only concentrating on taking three points from this afternoon’s trip to The Shay.
Millington spent six years at Halifax, the last three as boss and guiding them to Wembley glory in the FA Trophy and two playoff campaigns, only to fall at the quarterfinal stage.
He did not get the chance to bid farewell formally to the club, having departed in close after their promotion dream was scuppered by defeat to eventual playoff winners Oldham Athletic.
And while the amiable Mancunian will look forward to catching with old pals on and off the pitch the only target will be securing a fifth win in six National League matches.
It’s a sequence which has hoisted Moors from the relegation zone to 1lth place, one spot and one point above the Shaymen.
“I know it’s always nice to go back to a club where you've got some familiar faces, some friends,’ he said. “I'm looking forward to seeing some of the players who we've worked with and some of the people behind the scenes. That'll be nice.
“But I’m really excited to build on the work the lads have done in the recent games.
“Tm looking forward to trying to maintain the good form we're in, to be fair. That's the main focus for me.
