MANAGER DID NOT GIVE REQUIRED MEDICATION
A HALESOWEN care home manager who failed to protect a resident from harm has been fined £2,000.
Maxine Barcas, the registered manager of Woodview House Nursing Home, pleaded guilty to a single charge of failing to provide safe care and treatment to Barry Anslow.
Mr Anslow, who had epilepsy, was admitted to the home, run by Shaw Healthcare (Group) Limited, on January 10, 2020.
He had a specific care plan in place to manage his condition and was prescribed medication, which a registered nurse needed to administer as he lacked capacity to manage his own care due to dementia and other related health conditions.
Mr Anslow had been prescribed 2.5ml of levetiracetam twice a day, and his records showed staff last provided a dose on the evening of June 5, 2022.
