Car cannibals targeting motorists during home games at St Andrew's

A CRACKDOWN on criminals targeting cars for parts during Birmingham football matches has been started by police.

Police being briefed at Birmingham City's St Andrew's at Knighthead Park after a spike in car criminals stealing parts from vehicles during matchdays

Concerns have been raised by football fans attending Birmingham City FC matches at St Andrew's at Knighthead Park in Small Heath after they have returned to find their cars have been stripped.

So called 'car cannibals' have been targeting matchdays knowing a number of people will be heading to the match, leaving their cars vulnerable for several hours.

Cars have had parts taken off them and taken to 'chop shops' where the stolen vehicle parts have been stored.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "We're working closely with Birmingham City Football Club after some supporters raised concerns about vehicle crime.
