Brum ‘cat crisis’ as RSPCA sees a rise in abandoned pets

THE RSPCA Birmingham animal centre is facing a “cat crisis” and has made an urgent plea for foster carers to step in and help.

The animal charity says Newbrook Farm Animal Centre and Hospital is “bursting” and at full capacity following a recent influx of cats and kittens.

With a staggering 474 cats currently in its care, the Frankley Green centre says it's facing a full-blown “cat crisis”.

“We are absolutely full to capacity,” said cattery supervisor Emma Finnimore.

“Tt feels like we're facing a cat crisis with more cats coming in than we can find homes for - so we need people’s help.

“In particular, we have quite a lot of nursing cat mums and young kittens who aren't old enough for adoption yet.

“So we're desperately looking for foster homes for them to help free up space in our cattery for other cats who can be rehomed.”
