Boss defends decision to keep capable Ducksch on

Blues' Marvin Ducksch looks dejected after the missed chance

Blues supporters were surprised - and some were disgruntled - to see Jay Stansfield sacrificed in the 58th minute of the goalless draw with Albion.

Ducksch was out of sorts, but his recent purple patch - five goals and two assists in his last eight matches - prompted Davies to keep him on until the end. The striker almost repaid his manager’s faith with a snapshot from 18 yards that Albion goalkeeper Max O'Leary magnificently tipped around the post.

But there were a few loose touches and the 31-year-old could control Ousmane Diakite’s misjudged header with only the goalkeeper to beat towards the end.
