THIS is the moment a killer who attacked an elderly man outside a Birmingham care centre was chased away by staff.

- NICK HORNER News Reporter

Neil O'Donnell, aged 83, drove into the car park of a rehabilitation centre off Cateswell Road, Hall Green, on May 14 last year.

He was about to visit his partner when Tony Griffin, armed with a screwdriver, ran over to the door and tried to grab Mr O'Donnell’s wrist watch.

Mr O'Donnell was able to get Griffin off him and CCTV footage showed the career criminal was then chased off the site by staff.

He then contacted police and told them: “I got one at him, forcing him to slow down a bit.

“He had a screwdriver, saying, ‘Get it off ya’ He wanted the watch.”
