Swifter justice for sex-crime victims needed

Victims of sexual assault are being left in limbo for more than a year before their cases are heard, Bath’s MP has warned, as she demanded urgent reform of the criminal justice system.

Speaking in Parliament, Wera Hobhouse, Liberal Democrat MP for Bath, said it was “unacceptable” that rape survivors were waiting on average 417 days between an offender being charged and their case reaching completion at the Crown Court.
