OAP driver jailed for fatal collision with cyclist, 63

A man has been jailed for causing the death of a cyclist near Shaftesbury. Alan Morris, 75, and of Budbury Circle in Bradford-on-Avon, was sentenced earlier this month.
Morris struck 63-year-old cyclist Mary Emerson-Reed, of Shaftesbury, from behind when driving on the B3081. The crash occurred between Tollard Royal and Shaftesbury, a mile east of Zig Zag Hill, at around 11pm on June 23, 2023.
Mary, an experienced local cyclist, and a friend were cycling on the road with their lights lit and wearing high-vis tabards when Mary was struck by a Vauxhall Insignia driven by Morris. Morris initially claimed to have been unable to see her due to the lights of a car coming from the opposite direction.
