UTN won't back charter rejig

The United Thai Nation (UTN) Party insists it will oppose drafting a new constitution, warning that voting to approve the upcoming referendum would amount to scrapping the 2017 charter and signing a “blank cheque’, with potential impacts on royal prerogatives beyond Chapters 1 and 2.

The party accused critics of misrepresenting Constitutional Court rulings and failing to set safeguards in the referendum question.
At a press conference at the party's head office yesterday, party leader and prime ministerial candidate Pirapan Salirathavibhaga reiterated the party's stance ahead of the Feb 8 referendum on constitutional amendments.
