'Terrorists' to face justice: Jaishankar

India’s foreign minister said he has told US Secretary of State Marco Rubio that those responsible for last week's deadly attack in Kashmir must be brought to justice, as Washington moves to ease tensions between nuclear-armed India and Pakistan.

The United States said Mr Rubio addressed the strained relationship between the two neighbours in separate telephone calls on Wednesday, urging both sides to work together to “de-escalate tensions”.

He expressed support for India’s efforts to combat extremism and called on Pakistan to cooperate in the investigation into the attack, which left 26 people dead, according to the US State Department.

Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar said in a post on X that he told Mr Rubio the “perpetrators, backers and planners” of the April 22 attack “must be brought to justice”.
