Ministry to rework plans for second half

The Tourism and Sports Ministry plans to revise its tourism strategy for the second half of this year to address the Myanmar-China market and ease confidence following the recent earthquake, aiming to establish a new crisis management team to tackle emergencies.

Nattariya Thaweewong, the tourism permanent secretary, said this week the ministry would discuss the revised strategy with a strategic consultant team to direct the Tourism Authority of Thailand, which will implement the plan.

This year's plan should matter, as tourism sentiments have affected the tourism sentiments, including the earthquake that hit Myanmar and Thailand last week, in addition to global economic challenges, said Ms Nattariya.
