Tisana: PP operations 'involved irregularities'
Tisana Choonhavan, a former MP for Bangkok's Constituency 2 (Pathumwan, Sathon and Ratchathewi) under the People’s Party (PP), has stirred controversy after alleging irregularities in her former party's management and operations.
Some observers view Ms Tisana’s exposé as stemming from disappointment over her recent disqualification as an election candidate. Others suggest her criticism reflects deeper ideological differences.
Ms Tisana, 34, is an heir to the prominent Choonhavan political family. Her grandfather, former prime minister Chatichai Choonhavan, pursued trade-oriented reforms in the early 1990s, favouring economic engagement over military confrontation with neighbouring countries. His administration, which promoted a form of pro-business capitalism, was overthrown in 1991 by the National Peace Keeping Council (NPKC) led by Gen Suchinda Kraprayoon, citing corruption.
