TikTok touts $2bn of online safety and trust measures
Bangkok Post
|July 31, 2025
TikTok is investing US$2 billion globally each year on trust and safety measures, while it unveils new features to enhance platform security, family well-being, and creator empowerment.
The company is also advancing its use of artificial intelligence (AI) to foster a safer digital environment.
Last year, TikTok removed more than 500 million videos for violating its policies.
In Thailand, 3.4 million videos were taken down in the first quarter of this year, with a proactive removal rate of 99.5%, and 95% of content removed within 24 hours.
"We spend $2 billion on our trust and safety efforts annually, which is a company priority and a focus on the investment side," Adam Presser, head of operations at TikTok, said at a regional media roundtable yesterday.
"Everything we do starts with safety, and when people feel safe, they can be open, creative, and they can be themselves."
It takes consistent work through thoughtful systems and the right balance of human insight and technology, and that is why the company has invested in a global trust and safety operation with thousands of people dedicated to keeping the platform safe and the content trusted.
