Sustainable funds ride green wave
Bangkok Post
|March 02, 2026
Thailand’s capital market hit a turning point in 2025 as sustainable investment products delivered triple-digit growth, highlighted by a 152% surge in sustainable and responsible investing (SRI) funds and a 106% leap in Thai ESG (environmental, social and governance) assets, says the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
The regulator said this high-velocity expansion is matched by a parallel focus on regulatory oversight, as it moves to ensure this “green wave” is anchored by transparency and zero tolerance for market misconduct.
The momentum for sustainable finance was evident for both mutual funds and debt instruments. The net asset value of SRI funds outpaced expectations, skyrocketing from 49.1 billion baht in 2024 to 124 billion in 2025.
Similarly, Thai ESG funds surged to 61.3 billion baht last year.
Complementing this boom, sustainability-linked bonds continued their steady ascent, rising to 93.6 billion baht, further cementing the appetite for ESG-based debt, noted the SEC.
