The Thai Industries Sentiment Index (TISI) decreased to 91.8 points in March, down from 93.4 in February, attributed to US President Donald Trump's new tariff policy and the impact of the earthquake, says the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI).
The earthquake hit central Myanmar on March 28, with tremors felt in many areas including Bangkok, where many high-rise buildings were damaged. The quake affected confidence among foreign tourists planning to visit Thailand.
Washington imposed a 25% tariff on foreign-made automobiles exported to the US from April 2, while auto parts exporters can expect to face new duties no later than May 3, according to media reports.
