The local housing market continues to be battered by a weak economy, high household debt and tight lending standards, despite stimulus measures, writes Kanana Katharangsiporn
The property market, particularly the residential sector, is facing an uncertain recovery as it struggles against economic headwinds, weakened purchasing power and stricter mortgage approvals, deepening concerns for the remainder of 2025.
Many developers observed a slowdown in the residential market starting in mid-2024, driven by a broader economic downturn.
The delay in the 2024 government budget disbursement meant fiscal stimulus failed to arrive when it was most needed.
As a result, the economic slowdown became more pronounced in the third quarter of 2024 and continued to weigh heavily on the market in the first quarter of 2025, despite a brief uptick in the final quarter of 2024.
