Poll leaders narrow gap

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has narrowed the gap with poll leader Natthaphong Ruengpanyawut in the latest survey by the National Institute for Development Administration (Nida), signalling an increasingly competitive race for the premiership ahead of the Feb 8 general election.

The nationwide poll, conducted between Jan 5-8 among 2,500 respondents, shows People's Party (PP) leader Natthaphong remains the most preferred prime ministerial candidate, securing 24.76% support. He is followed closely by Mr Anutin, the Bhumjaithai Party leader, on 20.84%.

Undecided voters account for 14.12%, while Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva and Pheu Thai candidate Yodchanan Wongsawat received 12.12% and 9.64% respectively.

The PP also led in voter intentions, with 30.40% favouring its candidates for constituency MPs and 30.48% for party-list seats.

Bhumjaithai candidates followed with 21.96% for constituencies and 22.32% for party-list positions, reflecting rising support behind Mr Anutin.
