President of the National Olympic Committee of Thailand (NOCT) Pimol Srivikorn has thrown his weight behind the proposal to separate the Ministry of Sports from Tourism.

It was reported on Monday that the Bhumjaithai Party is considering merging the Tourism Ministry with the Culture Ministry while the Ministry of Sports will be separated to focus exclusively on sports development.
"I would like to state that I strongly agree with the idea of separating the Ministry of Sports into an independent ministry. It will allow for a full focus on sports. The incoming minister will be able to fully dedicate himself to sports affairs," said Pimol, who also serves as president of the Taekwondo Association of Thailand.
