Over 350 hospitals plan to participate
The Department of Internal Trade (DIT) is partnering with more than 300 private hospitals to offer patients the option of buying medicines from external sources.
The initiative aims to benefit Thais and expatriates, and is anticipated to reduce living costs by 32.4 billion baht.
Wittayakorn Maneenetr, director-general of the DIT, announced the initiative following a meeting with the Private Hospital Association (PHA), the Department of Health Service Support and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The "Happy Body, Happy Wallet" scheme is meant to enhance consumer choices by allowing patients to compare prices for medicines and medical supplies outside private hospitals, he said.
